With reference to your letter No. 7 W
Kong 1029 of the "th. January last, I am directed to inform
you that the Contractor for the Market at Kowloon Point has
lodged with this Government a claim for $4,586 on account
of the delay to his work caused by the non-arrival of the iron-
-work from England.

The following is a summary by Mr. Fisher
of the Public Works Department of what has occurred:-

Telegram sent to Crown Agents requesting theme
to expedite Indent, no advice having been
received from them up to that date.
Lotter dated 8.10.09 received from Crown

in England 60 days”.

telegram of 1.11.09 and reporting that work
was practically stopped for want of the
ironwork.
Letter dated 16.11.09 received from Crown
Agents re cable and enclosing copies of
letters dated 5.11.09 from Manufacturers
and from the Consulting Engineer dated
10.11.09 explaining delay.
Letter dated 22.12.09 received from Crown
Agents advising that shipment had been
delayed and enclosing copy of letter fron
